"I think a lot of us have been there before. Life gets hectic, throws a few curve balls and you stop prioritising the simple things that keep you on track and accountable. When I looked at my pre challenge scan results it hit home just how important my usual non-negotiables of tracking food, weighing myself weekly and hitting my macro and step targets were for keeping me at my best. Reflecting back, I felt sluggish, wasn’t sleeping well, my favourite clothes didn’t fit, and I just felt blah for want of a better word.
My goal for challenge was to farewell 6kg of body fat. It was a lofty goal, but I believed I could do it and was grateful my coach thought so too. We planned out what the 6 weeks might look like, set calorie, macro and step targets and discussed what classes I would do. Over the 6 weeks, I once again prioritised the habits that keep me on track and accountable. It felt good to do that and as the challenge progressed, I noticed I had more energy, I was sleeping better, my clothes started to fit again, and my overall mood lifted. These gains fuelled the fire and kept me going.
At the end of the 6 weeks, I did achieve my goal. I ended up 7.2kg down and to my surprise managed to gain some muscle. The challenge was far from a lonely and painful experience and there are many people who supported and motivated me every day. I can’t thank my family and my MFIIT coaches and family enough for being the wonderful humans they are. Now begins the 'challenge after the challenge' and that is to continue to priortise those little things that when done consistently keep me happy and at my best.
